Road to Reading

The Pottstown NAACP proudly presents the Road to Reading program, a dedicated initiative to foster a love of reading among children. With an impressive 11,000 books already distributed, this program aims to provide young readers access to various engaging and educational materials, encouraging literacy and a lifelong passion for learning.

The program began in mid-October 2023, when an anonymous donor came to us with a proposal to fund the cost of books that we would distribute to children, ages birth to eight years, in Pottstown Borough. We now have more than two dozen entities that we work with, including  the Pottstown school district, HeadStart and pre-K classes, the Cluster's food pantry, Family Services, WIC, daycare centers that have a high percentage of subsidized students, the YMCA, Community Health and Dental, and even a few barbershops and a school bus driver who wants to promote reading.

Our fiscal partner is the Literacy Council of Norristown

In partnership with the Literacy Council of Norristown, we are pleased to announce that Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is expanding to Pottstown! Learn more and enroll your child at: https://www.lcnlit.org/dpil/.
